    Florence is the 'cradle of the renaissance', and is must see for fans of art and history. Even once you get tired of all that culture, it is a very pretty place in which to soak up the atmosphere and sample some of the great Italian food.

    One of the most famous sights in all of Italy, the Leaning Tower of Pisa is also the world's most famous architectural blunders. Although the leaning has now been stopped from getting worse, thousands still come to admire what is essentially a failure of human engineering!

    A World Heritage Site, Madera was the home to thousands of peasants until well after WW2. People and animals lived together in squalor amongst the cave houses.

    Milan is the face of modern Italy. The glamorous city is Italy's economic hub and is a fashion and design mecca. The people are beautiful, the food is superb (and healthy), and the city has excellent shopping and clubbing opportunities.

    Buried by the Mt Vesuvius eruption of AD79, Pompeii is an extraordinary Roman ruins. See the Roman lavatories, bars, and body casts of the terrified locals.

    The smallest independent state in the world, the Vatican is home to the Pope. Dress codes are strictly enforced here, so make sure you have your legs and shoulders coverd when you visit.

    Venice is one famous city of the world that is definitely not over-rated. Although travelling the famous canals is must do, wandering the alleyways and admiring the architecture is all part of the amazing Venice experience.
